Check it out at carbootqueen.co.uk This is my first foray into running forums via wordpress so it'll be interesting. It's very much in the beta stage right now, but should be fun to see what happens.GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-43406220815526207132015-01-25T11:30:00.003+01:002015-01-25T11:30:29.972+01:00The site I wrote for my aunt is now liveAfter the success of the publishing of my aunt's book "Before I grow too old", I wrote her a small website to go with the book, suitable titled "Before I grow too old!GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-31140823045761729542013-05-04T11:50:00.003+02:002013-05-04T11:50:23.174+02:00The new Undiscovered Stockholm site is now releasedI work mostly on globalgoat.com nowadays, but I needed an additional outlet for all my Stockholm and Swedish thoughts, so I put together a small site called undiscoveredstockholm.com last month, which contains all my tips and thoughts about why Stockholm is a great place to live.GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-67420475993404206392012-03-02T11:56:00.001+01:002012-03-02T11:56:46.298+01:00The new globalgoat.com with it's shiny new logo is releasedAfter a few late nights (I'm very slow as wordpress and HTML design, very very slow) the first major revision of The new globalgoat is released. There's still much work to do, but the basics are there and are something to build upon.GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-67145034512206569682012-02-22T15:04:00.001+01:002012-02-22T15:04:13.843+01:00Back in the summer of 2011 myself and Sarah decided that it was time to come back to the UK, primarily for family reasons. Despite our love of our Swedish lives, it was getting tougher keeping the children away from their grandparents and extended family, and also with most of our old UK friends having children of the same age, we knew that we were missing out somewhat on a larger social "family".

In November 2011 we managed to complete the move back to the UK and are now residing in South Croydon temporarily in a nice rented house in Sanderstead. I could tell you a long and painful story about the administrative difficulties of moving across countries with young children, but hey, we got it done and everyone was just fine in the end.

This meant at the time that I had to give up my job at Basefarm, which was painful to do as I was just really starting to get deeply embedded and had a million plans I wanted to see through, but so is life sometimes. Fortunately I'm still working for them on a part time consulting basis and who knows what the future may hold for our working relationship. I miss Sweden terribly but seeing how the children have thrived around their family in the UK, we know it was the right decision for this moment in time.

I'm currently working as Database Architect for dotDigitalGroup in Croydon. They're what I would call a mature start up and I'm trying to bring their data, procedures and control into the 21st century :)

At the same time I've formally registered my long treasured globalgoat name as a company and am working independently at a consultant through that. As such I've moved this long running personal blog back to blogger hosting, and started to build a new globalgoat.com

It's certainly different moving from one of the largest software companies in the world, to a small Nordic hosting company, but it's for reasons like this post about working at Dreamhack, that I'm glad to be there so far. I work with some very interesting and skilled people, and that's a cool thing.
Today is my last day with the SQL Server team at MS, and I'm off to join a small nordic tech company called Basefarm on the 14th February.

I'm a bit scared, a bit nervous, a bit excited as one often is when stepping off into something new. Most of all though right now I'm rather sad to be saying goodbye to a ton of great people here at Microsoft Sweden. I made some great friends and learnt alot from many people here, but it's time to move on do something completely different, hence the transfer to a company with about 200 employees as opposed to 100,000!GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-37921541432832569522010-12-10T14:44:00.000+01:002010-12-10T14:44:43.359+01:00from my MSDN blog: How to configure Extended Events in SQL Server 2008 to track and log unpredicatable syntax errors submitted to SQL ServerThis week on my MSDN SQL Server blog:
How to configure Extended Events in SQL Server 2008 to track and log unpredicatable syntax errors submitted to SQL Server.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/grahamk/archive/2010/12/10/extended-event-to-track-and-trace-syntax-errors.aspx

These techniques can easily be adjusted to track and trace any type of SQL Server error or warning that you're having trouble tracing using more traditional (old school) techniques.GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-64074686950545042032010-07-20T19:24:00.001+02:002010-07-20T19:24:15.523+02:00Just back from a week in Fårö, Gotland

044
Originally uploaded by GlobalGoat
This is the beach we were staying on, at a place called Sudersands.
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-45628843444945984502010-01-07T20:39:00.001+01:002010-01-07T20:39:40.726+01:00Just back from cross country skiing in Vemdalen

Just back from cross country skiing in Vemdalen
Originally uploaded by GlobalGoat
This is what happens when you have a beard and it's minus 30.
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-40187591741624782982009-08-26T22:29:00.002+02:002009-08-26T22:32:16.973+02:00I am just loving MLB.comUSD35 for watching and streaming the whole US baseball season to your computer(s), you can´t argue with that. When I use this service it feels like the future of Tv / computers, it´s so professionally done and so super super slick. And more than anything else for once it just doesn´t matter where the hell you live, I just pay my money and download my content, simple you´d think, but why can´t all online services be like this.GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-12534717954575057982009-03-17T18:46:00.001+01:002009-03-17T18:46:26.140+01:00Will this damn projector ever work?

Will this damn projector ever work?
Originally uploaded by GlobalGoat
Spent 45 mins with Spike trying to get this to work! Given another week or 2 there ought to be some top skating opportunities as well.

I've just bought a Roof box for the car so we can get all our shit in the car, now there's 3 of us...otherwise it was a choice between Matilda or skis, and its obvious which I would have had to chose ;-)
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-6274836724849997972008-05-27T19:25:00.001+02:002008-05-27T19:25:30.082+02:00Here they are!

IMG_0220
Originally uploaded by pcgxk
the girls together....Matilda is 3 days old here on the first full day that we came home from the hospital. Considering what both of them went through (long labour, vacuum extraction and various other stuff) I reckon that they both look pretty amazing.
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-89305714246413565312008-05-16T19:45:00.001+02:002008-05-16T19:45:48.853+02:00First Kayaking of 2008

IMG_0166
Originally uploaded by pcgxk
It was super hot last week, especially for Stockholm in May (27 degrees) so the only thing to do obviously was to go kayaking :-) You could argue that being as the baby was due on the same day, that this was not the best plan, but hey Sarah was sitting on the beach chilling (hence the photo obviously) and this lake isn't that far from the hospital anyway - it's fact it's nearer than home.

It was a fine time. The next day I tried to go swimming, but the water was only 12 degrees (apparently) "fucking cold" was how I personally quantified it, and I just couldn't hack it. Give it a couple of weeks though.

The temperature if back to 10 degrees now though, and hell maybe the baby will arrive soon anyway!
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20402039.post-9955751570995797522008-05-09T14:50:00.001+02:002008-05-09T14:50:59.168+02:00New technical blog
I've opened a technical SQL Server blog for work...it can be found at http://blogs.msdn.com/grahamk

Let's hope I write more on it than I do here :-)
GlobalGoathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00147547453986485313noreply@blogger.com0
